Fire Prevention Bureau Activities & Services
Maintain public records regarding all fires within the jurisdiction. To obtain information regarding fire incidents, contact the Fire Marshal’s Office at 281-446-4928.
To perform plans reviews for code compliance relating to fire protection systems on all permitted building construction.
To perform inspections of all commercial and public buildings within the jurisdiction: Fire code compliance inspections are performed on all non-residential occupancies. Inspections are typically done annually. If the Fire Inspector find any fire hazard or violations, the owner/tenant is given a notice to correct the violations and adequate time is given for corrections to be made. The inspector then returns to Re-Inspect to verify compliance. (NOTE: See Fire Safety Checklist)
To investigate all fires to determine the cause and origin: The Fire Marshal Division makes a determination on causes of all fires. This helps in finding out if the fire was accidentally or purposely set. Any purposely set fire that results in damage to property, including grass or shrubs, is considered arson under the Texas Penal Code. Also, a criminal investigation is launched and with the modern methodologies and forensic investigations, the probability of arrest and conviction is high.
To provide education regarding fire safety: The Fire Marshal Division provides fire safety educational programs to schools, churches, senior citizens, employees and other groups in our jurisdiction. Classes are provided upon request and can be held at the Humble Fire Station on Main Street or at a location provided by the group.
The Following programs are available:
Fire Safety Tips for Children: Programs designed for ages 4 to 10 which can include a tour of the fire station or a visit by a fire engine.
Institutional Fire Safety: Designed for employees of health care facilities including home health care
Home Fire Safety: A program that helps families identify fire hazards and plan actions to be taken if a fire were ever to occur.
Workplace Fire Safety: A program that helps employees identify workplace fire hazards and plan actions they must take if a fire were ever to occur.
